The joint programme in Nigeria aims to support the government in its food systems transformation implementation plan by advocating and working with all actors, especially at the state and local government levels to develop their food systems transformation action plans and to improve coordination with other partners.
It will strengthen agrifood system Value Chain analysis and program development to attract private sector investment that improves livelihoods in the agricultural sector, farming practices, and builds resilience to climate change.
The programme will support market development and linkages through access to modern processing technologies, efficient logistics infrastructure, food handling and storage systems to reduce post-harvest losses.
It will also improve nutrition through innovations in food diversification, fortification, and other measures to prevent malnutrition.
Finally, the programme will enhance national and sub-national level data collection, evidence generation and capacity for early warning systems and provision of real time quality data and information to inform agrifood systems policy and program development for improved food security and nutrition outcomes.
