Social Protection for Female Tea Garden Workers


On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Bangladesh Cha Sramik Nari Parishad, part of the Bangladesh Tea Workers' Union BCSU, organized a discussion with women tea plantation workers and communities at Shamshernagar Tea Garden in Kamalganj upazila of Moulvibazar district.

The female and male union members, together with local government representatives discussed women’s equality in the workplace, empowerment and rights of women workers, including to health. A rally also took place.

The event was supported by a new Joint Programme of Government and four UN agencies, funded by the global Joint SDG Fund and focusing on social protection for female tea garden workers and their families in Sylhet Division.
