Brief Description

This initiative aims to create a replicable framework for scaling SDG 5 localization across Bangladesh, contributing to national planning and equitable development. The JP will establish young women’s think tanks in three geographical locations, create platforms built on the objectives of SDG5 to promote just political transitions, foster collaborative feminist dialogues and build leadership capacity based on the Princeton’s Women’s Alliance model.

The program focuses on enhancing the capacity of Upazila-level SDG Implementation and Coordination Committees (USICCs) in Bangladesh to develop community-led, gender-sensitive action plans that address local priorities. It actively engages local communities and civil society, utilizing digital tools to streamline processes and improve resource mobilization. The initiative reaches approximately 2,670 individuals, including policymakers, local administrators, and students, fostering inclusive governance and evidence-based decision-making. Ultimately, the program contributes to the creation of a replicable SDG localization model, significantly advancing climate resilience and supporting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Expected key results

  1. A network of young women leaders advocating for gender-equal participation in leadership and decision-making.
  2. A “Bangladesh Model for SDG 5 Localization” with intersections of young women at its centre, building on a participatory approach that is decentralised using digital means for capacity building on SDGs, and using existing tools to enhance decision-making
  3. Enhancing the participation of civil society, development partners, UN and private sector in the execution of development agenda, in particular SDG 5.
