Accelerating decent jobs and social protection for a just transition to formality in Uzbekistan
Brief Description
The joint programme titled 'Accelerating decent jobs and social protection for a just transition to formality in Uzbekistan' aims to reduce informal employment by formalising enterprises and jobs, expanding social insurance to informal and migrant workers, and improving access to decent work and social protection for vulnerable groups.
The joint programme focuses on facilitating a just transition to formal employment in Uzbekistan by reducing informal work and expanding social protection for vulnerable groups. It implements actions to formalize enterprises, enhance social insurance coverage, and promote integrated approaches between employment and social protection. The programme reaches 300,000 informal workers and extends legal coverage to another 300,000 individuals, while providing social assistance to 720,000 low-income people. By addressing systemic barriers and fostering partnerships, it significantly contributes to poverty reduction, gender equality, and decent work, ultimately enhancing climate resilience and advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
