Brief Description
The joint programme titled 'Development Planning and Capacity Building Programme' aims to strengthen Gabon's planning and governance capacities to promote sustainable development and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through improved institutional frameworks, enhanced skills, and better coordination among stakeholders.
The Development Planning and Capacity Building Programme in Gabon focuses on enhancing institutional and technical capacities for evidence-informed strategic planning to accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The programme strengthens the newly established Ministry of Planning and Foresight, enabling effective governance and cross-sectoral collaboration. It engages various stakeholders, including civil society and local authorities, to identify reforms and improve planning frameworks. The initiative reaches multiple beneficiaries, including 12 sectoral ministries and various non-state actors, ultimately aiming to foster inclusive governance and sustainable development, thereby significantly contributing to Gabon's climate resilience and SDG advancement.
Expected key results
- Identification of gaps in the development planning architecture and institutional and technical capacities to foster institutional reforms and design and implement a comprehensive capacity strengthening programme.
- Improved institutional structures, systems, and technical capacities, allowing effective evidence-informed strategic planning to accelerate SDG progress to realise the 2030 Agenda through operationalisation of key SDG transitions.
