Brief Description

The joint programme titled 'Digital AgroEnergy: Sustainable Innovation in Agri-Food Development (AIDA)' aims to strengthen the capacity of key institutions in El Salvador to manage and optimize energy consumption in the agri-food sector through advanced technologies, ultimately improving energy efficiency and sustainability while supporting the achievement of multiple Sustainable Development Goals.

The Digital AgroEnergy project strengthens the capacity of El Salvador's energy and agricultural institutions to optimize energy consumption in the agri-food sector through advanced technologies like IoT, Big Data, and AI. It creates a comprehensive energy consumption database and implements a pilot program, aiming to improve energy efficiency and sustainability while developing policy recommendations for renewable energy adoption. The project directly benefits 1,000 individuals and indirectly reaches 10,000, contributing to SDGs such as zero hunger, affordable energy, and climate action, ultimately enhancing climate resilience and promoting sustainable development in the country.

Expected key results

  • Identification of advanced technologies and their potential to optimize energy consumption in the agri-food sector, with the possibility of replication in other sectors.
