Brief Description

The joint programme titled 'Empowering Communities: Empowering families and communities through local food system transformation in Costa Rican municipalities' aims to accelerate agri-food system transformation at the local level to enhance environmental sustainability, social inclusion, and community health and nutrition in Costa Rica.

The programme transforms local food systems in Costa Rica, enhancing sustainability and community health. It engages 1,020 individuals, focusing on improving nutrition, promoting local food production, and fostering economic resilience. Key actions include rescuing ancestral recipes, bridging digital gaps, and creating decent jobs, while partnerships with local governments and organizations strengthen governance and access to healthy food. Overall, the initiative significantly advances climate resilience and supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Expected key results

The JP aims to enhance territorial governance, environmental sustainability, and food security within local agri-food systems.
