Brief Description

The joint programme titled 'Empowering Jamaica’s Future: SDG Joint Programme on Digital Transformation for Education' aims to drive the digital transformation of Jamaica's education system, enhancing learning outcomes and teacher engagement through improved data governance, digital skills, and inclusive practices over a three-year period.

The Joint Programme focuses on driving the digital transformation of Jamaica's education system, enhancing learning outcomes for approximately 240,000 students in grades 1 to 6 through improved data governance and teacher engagement. It strengthens stakeholder capacity and institutional frameworks, ensuring a more inclusive and gender-responsive education sector. Significant achievements include the modernization of the Open Education Management Information System (OpenEMIS) and the rollout of the Learning Passport, which provides access to quality educational content. The programme collaborates with various partners, including the EU and World Bank, to support vulnerable children and improve decision-making processes, ultimately advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to quality education and gender equality.

Expected key results

Vulnerable girls and boys have improved attendance, access to school meals and adequate nutrition, and benefit from child-centred, interactive, and inclusive learning interventions.
