Improving Social Security of vulnerable populations
Brief Description
The joint programme titled 'Improving Social Security of Vulnerable Populations' aims to support the government of Uzbekistan in developing and implementing a Social Insurance Law to enhance social protection coverage for vulnerable groups, particularly focusing on maternity benefits and addressing the needs of the unemployed and informal workers.
The joint programme focuses on improving social security for vulnerable populations in Uzbekistan by developing and implementing a comprehensive Social Insurance Law. It addresses the lack of access to social protection, particularly for pregnant women and unemployed individuals, by providing technical support to the newly established National Agency for Social Protection. The programme's actions include creating a roadmap for the law's implementation, designing maternity and unemployment benefits, and building the capacity of local institutions. It reaches a significant number of individuals, including 93.7% of pregnant women and 94% of unemployed persons, ultimately enhancing climate resilience and advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to social protection and gender equality.
