Brief Description

The joint programme titled 'Political advocacy to promote the transformation of sustainable and nutrition-sensitive food systems in El Salvador' aims to support the government of El Salvador in transforming its food systems to mitigate malnutrition and non-communicable diseases through enhanced governance, sustainable consumption practices, and collaboration among various stakeholders.

The program focuses on transforming sustainable and nutrition-sensitive food systems in El Salvador, addressing malnutrition and non-communicable diseases through enhanced governance and sustainable consumption practices. It engages 145 families, reaching 590 individuals, while fostering partnerships with government entities and civil society organizations. Key achievements include the establishment of dialogue platforms and the promotion of healthy diets, contributing to improved food security and nutrition. Overall, the initiative significantly enhances climate resilience and advances Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to zero hunger and good health.

Expected key results

The JP aims to strengthen sustainable and nutrition-sensitive food systems in El Salvador, enhancing social dialogue with civil society and promoting sustainable consumption of food to reduce malnutrition and non-communicable diseases through targeted capacity building in key, cross-sectoral governmental institutions, civil society partners and communities, complemented by cash transfers.
