Brief Description

The joint programme titled 'Supporting the preparation of the roadmap for the GA in Cabo Verde and feasibility studies to accelerate the eradication of extreme poverty at municipal level through decent jobs and social protection' aims to assist the Government of Cabo Verde in developing a roadmap for the Global Accelerator and conducting feasibility studies to enhance the integration of social protection and employment plans, ultimately targeting the eradication of extreme poverty by 2026.

The programme supports Cabo Verde in developing a roadmap for the Global Accelerator (GA) and conducting feasibility studies to eradicate extreme poverty through decent jobs and social protection. It integrates national social protection and employment plans, focusing on vulnerable groups, particularly women and youth NEET, to enhance their skills and access to opportunities. The initiative reaches 12,000 households living in extreme poverty, aiming to strengthen institutional capacities and improve policy frameworks. Overall, it significantly contributes to enhancing climate resilience and advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by fostering socio-economic inclusion and stability.

Expected key results

(1) Roadmap for the GA is finalized and submitted to the Government; (2) key policy priorities are identified to accelerate the expansion of social protection and decent work; (3) municipal plans are elaborated contributing to the localization and to the acceleration of the expansion of social protection and decent work at local level.
