Digital Transformation
List of ProgrammesThe Joint SDG Fund invests in digital transformation to support inclusive digital solutions that enhance public services, strengthen food systems, promote green practices, and advance gender equality. Aligned with the UN Secretary-General's Digital Roadmap, the Fund’s investment strategy focuses on three objectives: using digital transformation to accelerate SDG impact, advancing digital solutions guided by UN principles, and leveraging UN expertise to support inclusive digital transformation.
Food Systems Transformation
List of ProgrammesThe Food Systems Transformation funding round builds on momentum from the UN Food Systems Summit (2021) and the UNFSS+2 Stocktaking Moment (2023), supporting countries in implementing their National Food Systems Pathways. The first funding round, with contributions from Spain, Germany, Ireland, and Italy, allocates $16.7 million across 24 joint programmes, leveraging an additional $7.6 million in co-funding.
SDG Localization
List of ProgrammesThe Joint SDG Fund's SDG Localization portfolio is a global initiative empowering local communities and subnational authorities to drive key SDG transitions. Launched in 2024 in partnership with the Local2030 Coalition and funded by the Government of Spain, this track allocates $10.5 million across 30 countries, with $7.3 million in co-funding, totaling $17.8 million in investments.
Social Protection and Jobs
List of ProgrammesThe Joint SDG Fund's Jobs and Social Protection funding round is advancing the UN Secretary-General's Global Accelerator initiative. It focuses on creating decent jobs and expanding social protection to billions of excluded people worldwide.
In 2023, the Fund allocated $15.4 million across 26 joint programmes in 17 countries, with $12.1 million in additional co-funding, totaling $27.5 million in investments. A significant portion of this portfolio includes collaboration with the World Bank through nine joint programmes.
Energy Transition
List of ProgrammesThe Joint SDG Fund's Just Energy Transition portfolio is a strategic investment promoting a just, green, and equitable energy future. In 2024, it allocates $6.3 million across 25 joint programmes, providing up to $250,000 per country for a maximum 12-month implementation period. The initiative aligns with the UN system-wide push for third-generation national climate plans (NDCs 3.0) due in 2025, strengthening collective efforts to enhance countries' climate commitments while ensuring sustainable energy transitions.
