Digital Transformation

List of Programmes

The Joint SDG Fund invests in digital transformation to support inclusive digital solutions that enhance public services, strengthen food systems, promote green practices, and advance gender equality. Aligned with the UN Secretary-General's Digital Roadmap, the Fund’s investment strategy focuses on three objectives: using digital transformation to accelerate SDG impact, advancing digital solutions guided by UN principles, and leveraging UN expertise to support inclusive digital transformation.


 Kenya is deploying a mobile-accessible digital platform with real-time data for smallholder farmers.

Guatemala is accelerating digital services through interoperable digital public goods and in the Social Household Registry for social protection projects.

Serbia developed and implemented unified digital platform that allow citizens to access services from health, education, agriculture, and social protection departments through consistent, user-friendly interfaces.

Kyrgyzstan is using technology to make healthcare more accessible and effective for all citizens. Both public and private healthcare providers connect their information systems, protecting patient privacy while making health records accessible when needed. 

Tanzania is connecting different systems between government ministries and the private sector and finding innovative ways to finance agricultural technology through blended approach and impact funding. 

Jamaica is integrating education management with nutrition monitoring through school feeding and social protection systems for vulnerable children.

Food Systems Transformation

List of Programmes

The Food Systems Transformation funding round builds on momentum from the UN Food Systems Summit (2021) and the UNFSS+2 Stocktaking Moment (2023), supporting countries in implementing their National Food Systems Pathways. The first funding round, with contributions from Spain, Germany, Ireland, and Italy, allocates $16.7 million across 24 joint programmes, leveraging an additional $7.6 million in co-funding.


Bolivia is strengthening traditional agriculture in the Amazon.

Ethiopia is enhancing agricultural value chain commercialization in target areas, establishing quality assurance mechanisms and strengthening market integration.

Timor-Leste is facilitating large-scale agricultural infrastructure investments and establishing innovation centres to build farmer and MSMEs capacities.

Nigeria is improving income for small-holder farmers in target areas leveraging a mobile digital platform with real-time data and knowledge to enhance productivity and climate resilience. 

Tajikistan is promoting healthy dietary habits, and address policy constraints in the production of locally sourced nutritious food, leveraging strategic partnerships in domestic and external financing. 

Somalia is implementing nutrition-sensitive, climate-adaptive livelihood interventions to diversify income, enhance market access, and boost productivity, particularly targeting youth and women.

SDG Localization

List of Programmes

The Joint SDG Fund's SDG Localization portfolio is a global initiative empowering local communities and subnational authorities to drive key SDG transitions. Launched in 2024 in partnership with the Local2030 Coalition and funded by the Government of Spain, this track allocates $10.5 million across 30 countries, with $7.3 million in co-funding, totaling $17.8 million in investments.


Chile is enhancing digital connectivity and government services by developing digital tools to improve rural social protection and health services for smallholders and indigenous farmers.

Colombia is piloting a sustainable model for indigenous communities, aiming for self-sufficiency in energy, water, and food systems.

Honduras is revitalizing inclusive education by promoting incentives for educational progress.

Nepal is encouraging local leaders to create climate action plans that considers gender issues and funds local climate projects. 

Georgia is improving food waste management and social services through digital inclusion. 

Egypt is enhancing community engagement in local level planning and budgeting, focusing on youth and social protection.

Social Protection and Jobs

List of Programmes

The Joint SDG Fund's Jobs and Social Protection funding round is advancing the UN Secretary-General's Global Accelerator initiative. It focuses on creating decent jobs and expanding social protection to billions of excluded people worldwide.

In 2023, the Fund allocated $15.4 million across 26 joint programmes in 17 countries, with $12.1 million in additional co-funding, totaling $27.5 million in investments. A significant portion of this portfolio includes collaboration with the World Bank through nine joint programmes.


Indonesia is enhancing social protection coverage through policies such as conditional cash transfers and food voucher programmes.

Albania is advancing an inclusive social protection system by integrating protection, employment, and care services through the Universal Child Benefit and Long-Term Care policy.

Malawi is transforming its agricultural sector by improving the labor market and social protection for vulnerable populations.

Uzbekistan is focusing on formalising enterprises and jobs in the care and construction sectors, expanding social insurance coverage to informal and migrant workers, and developing integrated approaches between employment and social protection. 

Namibia is supporting vulnerable and marginalized groups, mainstreaming a human rights-based approach and focusing on the biomass value chain. 

Cambodia is supporting the implementation of Cambodia's Roadmap for Jobs and Social Protection Acceleration.

Energy Transition

List of Programmes

The Joint SDG Fund's Just Energy Transition portfolio is a strategic investment promoting a just, green, and equitable energy future. In 2024, it allocates $6.3 million across 25 joint programmes, providing up to $250,000 per country for a maximum 12-month implementation period. The initiative aligns with the UN system-wide push for third-generation national climate plans (NDCs 3.0) due in 2025, strengthening collective efforts to enhance countries' climate commitments while ensuring sustainable energy transitions.


Jordan is supporting the government by developing investment plans, green jobs strategies, and providing opportunities for entrepreneurs and workers.

Mongolia is enhancing climate financing and improving energy services in health and education sectors.

Malawi is targeting improved access to clean cooking technologies and skills development for vulnerable populations.

Barbados is empowering youth and educational institutions in the Eastern Caribbean to promote green and renewable energy practices. 

Suriname is creating sustainable energy access and economic empowerment for Indigenous and tribal communities by developing market-ready energy projects that contribute to environmental sustainability and social equity. 

Guyana is supporting a just energy transition in transportation by increasing the availability of electric vehicle charging points and providing technical and vocational training for the energy transition.
