WHAT CAME BEFORE

The Joint SDG Fund is an innovative mechanism of the United Nations, established to address the challenges of our time, which builds on previous efforts including the Millennium Development Goals Fund (MDG-F) and Sustainable Development Goals Fund (SDG-F) preceded us.

These were generously supported by the Government of Spain and informed the organization and functioning of the current Joint SDG Fund.

Sustainable Development Goals Fund (SDG Fund)

The Sustainable Development Goals Fund (SDG Fund) was an international multi-donor and multi-agency development mechanism created in 2014 by the United Nations to support sustainable development activities through integrated and multidimensional joint programmes.

MDG Achievement Fund (MDG-F)

The MDG Achievement Fund (MDG-F) was committed to eradicating poverty and inequality and changing people’s lives around the world. Set up in 2007 with a generous contribution from the Government of Spain to the United Nations system, we worked together with and in support of citizens and their organizations as well as governments to implement programmes that helped advance the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) worldwide.

Transforming our world

Accelerating progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 2030 Agenda means getting the right economic, social and environmental policies in place and taking them to scale as quickly as possible.
